Q Cells is well-known for manufacturing mid to high range solar panels at competitive prices. Ranked as a Tier-1 company by Bloomberg, they are reliable and have scored consistently well in independent testing by PV Evolution Labs.
Treading with technology
Q Cells offers a wide range of solar panels for residential, commercial and utility scale applications. According to Clean Energy Reviews, like most large volume manufactures, Q Cells has boosted efficiency by incorporating Mono PERC half-cut cells with multi-busbars (MBB) on all new generation panels. To further increase efficiency on the new G9+ range, they have moved to a high-density cell format which eliminates the vertical gaps between the cells and in-turn increases cell surface area across the panel.
Solar Reviews adds that Q Cells call their PERC implementation “Q.ANTUM DUO”. They take a traditional PERC solar cell that’s been treated to reduce light-induced degradation (LID) and potential induced degradation (PID) and each cell is cut in half while each panel is wired in two halves. The advantages of the split-panel design mean less losses from shading. If only one section of the panel happens to be shaded, the other half will still output its full potential.
Reliable performance
Clean Energy Reviews applauds Q Cells for offering one of the highest performing range of modules in their group with no severe degradation through the four rigorous testing regimes. Q Cells was also the first manufacturer to pass the more stringent TÜV Rheinland ‘Quality Controlled PV Certification’ in early 2020. Solar Choice reveals that all panels Q Cells currently sell in Australia are salt mist corrosion-resistant and suitable for installation in any location.
The most popular panels are from the premium Q.Peak and Q.Maxx monocrystalline range, which provide the best efficiency for homeowners with limited roof space.
Clean Energy Reviews also states that Q Cells have an industry-standard 12-year product warranty and 25-year performance warranty but recently upgraded the panel’s warranty from 12 to 25 years* on the new generation G5+ and G6+ panels.
